Matt Griffin takes GTE pole for Ferrari at Monza

Matt Griffin has taken the GTE pole position for Sunday's 4 Hours of Monza, the second round of the 2017 European Le Mans Series.

The Irish ace was at the wheel of the Spirit of Race-run #55 Ferrari 488 GTE and set the best time in ten-minute qualifying session, 1:48.027.

"It was really good, the engineers did a great job and the car was excellent. A pole position with Ferrari at Monza, a dream come true." Said Matt Griffin at the end of the qualifying session.

Larbre Competition's Fernando Rees was second fastest driving the #50 Corvette C7.R from Larbre Competition.

Porsche works driver Matteo Cairoli completed the top-three in GTE driving the #77 Porsche 911 RSR from Proton Competition.

The TF Sport #90 Aston Martin Vantage GTE was fourth. The Spirit of Race #51 Ferrari 488 GTE was fifth. The JMW Motorsport #66 Ferrari 458 Italia was sixth. The Beechdean AMR #99 Aston Martin Vantage GTE was seventh.

The 4 Hours of Monza will start at 13:30 tomorrow.
