TF Sport wins GTE in ELMS opener at Silverstone

An impressive debut for Aston Martin customer team TF Sport in the European Le Mans Series. The British squad has taken a dominant GTE class victory in their home event at the 4 Hours of Silverstone.

The winning #90 Aston Martin Vantage GTE was shared by Salih Yoluc, Euan Hankey and works driver Nicki Thiim.

The car had a scary moment in mid-race, the Aston Martin had a contact with a Ferrari from Spirit of Race. The car recovered, took back the first place in class and crossed the line victorious.

"It was a great race from the team, the drivers and Aston Martin. We are really happy with this victory," said  Euan Hankey at the end of the race.

Proton Competition was second at the end of the four-hour event. Their #77 Porsche 911 RSR was driven by Matteo Cairoli, Christian Ried and Joel Camathias.

Beechdean AMR completed the top-three in GTE with the #99 Aston Martin Vantage GTE in the hands of Darren Turner, Ross Gunn and Andrew Howard.

No podium for the Ferrari brand in the ELMS opener. Spirit of Race two Ferrari 488 GTEs were fourth and sixth in class, while the JMW Motorsport Ferrari 458 Italia was fifth.

The next round in the European Le Mans Series will be held at Monza, May 14th.
