Aston Martin Racing dominates the two GTE classes in Silverstone FP1

The works Aston Martin Racing team has topped the two GTE classes in the opening FIA WEC practice session at Silverstone.

The #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE, driven by Marco Sørensen, Nicki Thiim and Richie Stanaway, was the quickest in GTE-Pro with a best time of 1:59.110.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing's Stefan Muecke, Olivier Pla and Billy Johnson were second fastest with the #66 Ford GT.

The top-three was completed by their team-mates Harry Tincknell, Andy Priaulx and Pipo Derani with the sister #67 Ford GT.

Porsche GT Team's two Porsche 911 RSRs were fourth and fifth with ahead of the sixth placed #97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

A frustrating session for the AF Corse squad as the two factory backed Ferrari 488 GTEs were seventh and eighth in class.

GTE-Am was an Aston Martin Racing affair as well. The best time in the five-car field was set by the #98 Vantage GTE, 1:59.342, in the hands of Paul Dalla Lana, Pedro Lamy and Mathias Lauda.

The Gulf Racing-run #86 Porsche 911 RSR was second in class ahead of  Dempsey Proton Racing's #77 Porsche 911 RSR.
