Francesco Castellacci delighted with return to FIA WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans

After just one year of absence, Francesco Castellacci will be returning to the FIA World Endurance Championship this season. The Italian will be at the wheel of the #54 Ferrari 488 GTE from Spirit of Race within the GTE-Am class.

He will be sharing the Ferrari with the already confirmed Thomas Flohr, with whom he competed in last year's Michelin Le Mans Cup. The third driver's name will be annouced soon.

Francesco Castellacci was interviewed by Endurance-Info. A very interesting Q/A about the upcoming challenges in FIA WEC with Ferrari.

The highlight of the 2017 season will be the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Francesco Castellacci wants to perform well in the French Endurance classic: "You have to finish the 24 Hours of Le Mans in order to collect big points. Any bad result at La Sarthe means the title will be gone"

"I always wanted to return to Le Mans. This is will be my second appearance there and the race requires a lot of experience"

Francesco Castellacci will be busy with Ferrari ahead of the official FIA WEC test at Monza: "We are going to have a three-day test before the official Prologue at Monza. Our thrid driver will be announced soon and is expected to come from Ferrari"

About his FIA WEC experience with Aston Martin, Francesco Castellacci said: "I keep some great memories about my season at Aston Martin Racing [in the 2015 FIA WEC]"
