Corvette Racing quickest in GTLM in Daytona day 1 test

Corvette Racing was the fastest in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class in first day of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship tests at Daytona.

Antonio Garcia set the quickest time in the eight-car field with 1:45.442 at the wheel of the #3 Corvette C7.R. He shared the car with Jan Magnusssen.

The two Ford GTs from Chip Ganassi Racing were second and third fastest. Richard Westbrook, Ryan Briscoe and Scott Dixon were second sharing the #67 Ford GT ahead of their team-mates Dirk Muller and Joey Hand, third with the sister #66 machine.

2016 champions Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner were fourth with the #4 Corvette C7.R.

John Edwards, Martin Tomczyk, and Bruno Spengler were fifth driving the BMW Team RLL-run #25 BMW M6 GTLM.

Toni Vilander, the only Ferrari works driver in the Daytona tests, was sixth with the #62 Ferrari 488 GTE from Risi Competizione.

The brand new Porsche 911 RSRs ended the opening day in positions seven with the #912 Porsche and eight with the #911 car.

Action will resume on Wednesday at Daytona for the second day of testing.
