Aston Martin Racing dominates GTE-Pro in Bahrain opening practice


Aston Martin Racing has dominated the GTE-Pro field in the opening FIA WEC practice session at the Bahrain International Circuit. A 1-2 in class for the factory Vantage GTEs in the ninty-minute session.

At the wheel of the #97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE, Darren Turner and returning Jonathan Adam set the best time in class, 1:58.735.

Their team-mates and series points leaders Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen were second fastest with the Young Driver AMR run #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

Dempsey Proton Racing's Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen completed the top-three in GTE-Pro with the #77 Porsche 911 RSR.

Sam Bird and James Calado were fourth fastest with the #71 Ferrari 488 GTE from AF Corse. Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK's Harry Tincknell and Andy Priaulx were fifth with the #67 Ford GT. James Calado and Gianmaria Bruni were sixth with the #51 Ferrari 488 GTE. Stefan Mucke and Olivier Pla and seventh with the #67 Ford GT.

In the GTE-Am class, the #83 Ferrari 458 Italia of points leaders François Perrodo, Emmanuel Collard and Rui Aguas was the fastest. The AF Corse drivers set a best time of 2:01.550.

Aston Martin Racing's Paul Dalla Lana, Mathias Lauda and Pedro Lamy were second with the #98 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

Pierre Ragues, Romain Brandella and Ricky Taylor were third with #50 Corvette C7.R from Larbre Competition.
