Khaled Al Qubaisi and Team Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing are determined to take the title fight to Bahrain by gunning for maximum points in China at the penultimate round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the 6 Hours of Shanghai on Sunday. With the last two races and 50 points up for grabs, the door is still open for Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing this season!
Al Qubaisi is sharing driving duties with David Heinemeier Hansson of Denmark and Patrick Long of the US behind the wheel of the No.88 Porsche 911 RSR.
The Emirati Champion has previously conceded that Fuji was a race to forget, but has put his perspective on the season so far and why he is confident that there is a chance they can deliver against all odds.
Khaled Al Qubaisi said: “We have been facing a lot of challenges this season, but still keeping our spirits high!
We have had our share of several miss fortunes that affected challenging for good positions on the championship title.
Khaled Al Qubaisi:
But on the other hand, we have big commitments and dedication to our goals and towards the WEC, so we will keep pushing hard and we will take with us the positives to Shanghai.
We have the speed and the ability to compete for top positions and on winning races; that we have proved in Le Mans and in Mexico, we also proved it with 3 pole positions. So we will take all the positives and do our best in China although the circuit will be very tough on our car.
And I hope to gain maximum points possible before heading to Bahrain and I hope to compete there in the world title.
The final round in Bahrain is on November 19.
