A great new video from our friends at Mobil 1 The Grid featuring the Daytona Prototypes (DP) in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Petit Le Mans 2016 marked an end of an era in the North American sportscar racing. The Road Atlanta classic was the last race ever for Daytona Prototype machines in the IMSA series.
The cars were introduced back in 2003 in the former GRAND-AM series and were used in IMSA following the merger with the American Le Mans Series in 2014.
In 2017 a new generation of cars will be introduced in IMSA, the Daytona Prototype International (DPi). They will compete for the overall victories along with the LMP2 cars.
