Porsche North America 1-2 GTLM victory at COTA


Porsche scored a fine 1-2 victory in the ultra competitive GT Le Mans class at the Circuit of the Americas. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race was highlighted by thrilling battles for class supremacy between Porsche and Ferrari.

The winning Porsche North America run #912 Porsche 911 RSR was shared by works drivers Earl Bamber and Frederic Makowiecki, they covered a total of 74 laps.

Their team-mates Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy were right behind in second place with the #912 Porsche 911 RSR.

Risi Competizione with drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander was leading the event with twenty minutes to go before being hit with technical issues. The Rosso Corsa #62 Ferrari 488 GTE was forced to head to pitlane and gave up the lead to Porsche North America's two 911 RSRs.

Corvette Racing's Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen completed the GTLM podium sharing the #3 Corvette C7.R.

Dirk Werner and Bill Auberlen were fourth with the #25 BMW M6 GTLM from BMW Team RLL. Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin were fifth with the Corvette Racing #4 C7.R.
