IMSA GT Le Mans teams heading to COTA


The next round in the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will be held at the beautiful Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. The premier North American sportscar series will be sharing the weekend with the FIA World Endurance Championship.

In the GT Le Mans class, battle is raging between Corvette and Ford for all of the three championship titles. Ahead of the Texan event, Corvette leads the drivers', teams' and manufacturers' standings ahead of arch rivals from Ford.

Corvette Racing's Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner who are leading the drivers' standing will be sharing the #4 Corvette C7.R. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen, the overall winners at VIR, will be driving the sister #3 Corvette Racing.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing's Dirk Mueller and Joey Hand will be at the wheel of the #66 Ford GT. Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe, who are second in the drivers' standing, will be driving the #67 Ford GT.


Porsche North American will fiedl a pair of 911 RSRs. Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy will be the drivers of the #911 Porsche 911 RSR. Their team-mates Earl Bamber and Frederic Makowiecki, who clinched a podium at VIR, will be driving the #912 Porsche 911 RSR.

BMW Team RLL will be hunting a first victory in this year's competition with the brand new M6 GTLM. Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner will drive the #25 BMW. Lucas Lhur and John Edwared will be sharing the #100 M6 GTLM.

Risi Competizione too will be chasing a first win this season. Their #62 Ferrari 488 GTE will be driven by Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander. The COTA race is a home event for the Houston based squad.
