Aston Martin Racing dominates GTE-Pro in Mexico second practice

As was the case in the opening practice session at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Aston Martin Racing has topped GTE-Pro in the second practice session of the day, a 1-2 for the works Vantage GTEs.

Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen were the fastest again at the wheel of the Young Driver AMR run #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE. Their best time was 1:40.477 and covered a total of 37 laps.

Their team-mates Richie Stanaway and Darren Turner were second fastest sharing the sister #97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE with a best time of 1:40.549.

AF Corse's Gianmaria Bruni and James Calado completed the top-three in GTE-Pro with the #51 Ferrari 488 GTE.

Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK's two cars were fourth - with the #66 Ford GT and fifth - with the #67 Ford GT. The AF Corse #71 Ferrari 488 GTE was sixth. The Dempsey Proton Racing #77 Porsche 911 RSR was seventh.

In the GTE-Am class it was another 1-2 Porsche. Gulf Racing was the quickest again with Michael Wainwright, Adam Carroll and Ben Barker setting the best time of the session 1:42.321 at the wheel of the #86 Porsche 911 RSR.

The Abu-Dhabi Proton Racing #88 Porsche 911 RSR was second. The Aston Martin Racing #98 Aston Martin Vantage GTE was third.

Mexico Second Practice Results

Action will resume on Friday at Mexico City with a third practice session followed by the qualifying one.
