Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen fastest in Mexico opening practice
Aston Martin's Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen were the fastest in the opening FIA World Endurance Championship practice session at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City.
At the wheel of the Young Driver AMR run #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE, the two works drivers set the quickest time in GTE-Pro with 1:40.685.
Gianmaria Bruni and James Calado were second fastest with the #51 Ferrari 488 GTE from AF Corse, their best time was 1:41.455.
Richie Stanaway and Darren Turner completed the top-three in GTE-Pro with the #97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.
The Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK #66 Ford GT was fourth. The Dempsey Proton Racing #77 Porsche 911 RSR was fifth. The AF Corse #71 Ferrari 488 GTE was sixth. The Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK #67 Ford GT was seventh.
The GTE-Am class was a Porsche affair. The #86 Porsche 911 RSR driven byMichael Wainwright, Adam Carroll and Ben Barker was the fastest in class. The Gulf Racing drivers set a best time of 1:43.027.
Second place went to the #88 Porsche 911 RSR from Abu-Dhabi Proton Racing. The Aston Martin Racing #98 Vantage GTE was third in class.
