Aston Martin Racing dominates GTE at 6 Hours of COTA

Aston Martin Racing has dominated the two GTE classes at the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas, round six of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship.

In GTE-Pro, class victory went to polemen Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen who shared the #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE. The Danish drivers started from pole position and took full control of the event right from the start.

A second straight GTE-Pro victory for Aston Martin Racing and the first one for Nicki Thiim, Marco Sørensen and Young Driver AMR.

AF Corse's Gianmaria Bruni and James Calado had a solid race and were second in class at the wheel of the #51 Ferrari 488 GTE.

Their team-mates Davide Rigon and Sam Bird completed the GTE-Pro podium with the sister #71 Ferrari 488 GTE.

Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK's Marino Franchitti, Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell were fourth with the #67 Ford GT. Darren Turner and Fernando Rees were fifth with the #97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE. Dempsey Proton Racing's Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen were sixth with the #77 Porsche 911 RSR.

In GTE-Am, Aston Martin Racing took a dominant victory. The winning #98 Aston Martin Vantage GTE was driven by Paul Dalla Lana, Mathias Lauda and Pedro Lamy.

KCMG's Wolf Henzler, Chrisitian Ried and Joel Camathias were second with the #78 Porsche 911 RSR.

Pierre Rague, Lars Viljoen and Ricky Taylor were third in class with the Larbre Competition #50 Corvette C7.R.

6 Hours of COTA Results

The next round in the FIA World Endurance Championship will be held at the famous Fuji Speedway, October 16th.
