Corvette Racing's Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner have taken the GTLM class victory in an action-packed Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. The two factory Chevrolet drivers and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship points leaders were at the wheel of the #4 Corvette C7.R.
Oliver Gavin took the GTLM lead with 30 minutes to go after a mistake from class leader Giancarlo Fisichella and crossed the line victorious.
Their team-mates Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen were second sharing the sister #3 Corvette C7.R.
Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe driving the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing run #67 Ford GT completed the GTLM podium. They bounced back very well after a contact at the start of the race dropping from first place in class to the very last one.
Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander were fourth with the #62 Ferrari 488 GTE from Risi Competizione. The Houston based squad had a solid race and was leading the event before dropping to fourth after a mistake from Fisichella and then a contact with the #67 Ford GT.
Ford Chip Ganassi Racing's Dirk Mueller and Joey Hand were fifth with the #66 Ford GT. Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy were seventh driving the Porsche North America #911 Porsche 911 RSR.
One of the highlights of the event was the contact between Dirk Werner's #25 BMW M6 GTLM and Earl Bamber's #912 Porsche 911 RSR. The two cars hit each other with an hour to go and were taken out from the race.
