Ford wins GTLM at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing has won the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. As always in the premier North American sportscar series, there were great battles for GTLM supremacy all race long.

The winning #67 Ford GT was shared by Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook, their third straight victory in IMSA following two wins at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the Six Hours of Watkins Glen. The two factory Ford drivers covered a total of 119 laps.

Richard Westbrook:

I am surprised a bit. We were struggling a bit on Friday, but we just kept improving the car all weekend. We knew we had a shot for the podium, but we kept dreaming big. We needed something special to win, and that’s what we got today.

Second place went to Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin driving the Corvette Racing run #3 C7.R.

Their team-mates Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia completed the GTLM podium driving the sister #3 Corvette.

BMW Team RLL's Dirk Werner and Bill Auberlen ended in fourth place with the #25 M6 GTLM ahead of Ford's Joey Hand and Dirk Muller with the #66 Ford GT

Porsche North America's Earl Bamber and Frederic Makowiecki were sixth with the #912 911 RSR. Risi Competizione's Toni Vilander and Giancarlo Fisichella were seventh with the #62 Ferrari 488 GTE. Porsche's Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy were eighth with the #911 RSR. Lucas Luhr and John Edwards were ninth with the #100 BMW M6 GTLM.
