James Calado and Gianmaria Bruni fastest in Nürburgring opening practice


AF Corse's James Calado and Gianmaria Bruni were the fastest in the opening FIA World Endurance Championship practice session at the Nürburgring. The session was red flagged for several minutes in its early stages.

At the wheel of the facotry supported #51 Ferrari 488 GTE, James Calado set the quickest time in GTE-Pro with 1:58.402.

Darren Turner and Richie Stanaway were second fastest with the #97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE from Aston Martin Racing, their best time was 1:58.601.

Their team-mates Nicki Thiim and Sørensen completed the top-three in GTE-Pro with the Young Driver AMR run #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

The AF Corse #71 Ferrari 488 GTE was fourth. The Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK cars were fifth with #66 Ford GT and sixth with the #67 Ford GT. The #77 Porsche 911 RSR from Dempsey Proton Racing was seventh.

In GTE-Am, the #98 Aston Martin Vantage GTE driven by Paul Dalla Lana, Mathias Lauda and Pedro Lamy was the fastest in class. The Aston Martin Racing drivers set a best time of 1:59.949.

Second place went to #50 Corvette C7.R from Larbre Competition. The AF Corse #83 Ferrari 458 Italia was third in class.
