Riding high on confidence from their podium-finishing performance at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans last month, Khaled Al Qubaisi and Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing go into round four of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the 6 Hours of Nürburgring in Germany, from July 22-24, aiming to consolidate their second place in the championship and narrowing the gap with the leader.
Al Qubaisi will again be sharing driving duties with David Heinemeier Hansson of Denmark and Patrick Long of the US behind the wheel of the No.88 Porsche 911 RSR.
At Le Mans, Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing had created history by being the first Emirati team to be on the podium while it was a personal best for Al Qubaisi who celebrated his second podium at the legendary 24-hour endurance.
With the podium finish at Le Mans, Abu Dhabi Proton-Racing leaped to second place in class now on 55 points in the championship and the team is aiming to consolidate that position and also to try and narrow the gap with the leader.
Khaled Al Qubaisi:
It is good to be in Nürburgring and Germany… home of our car Porsche!
The track there is very nice; it is more of an old-school track with not much of run-off area.
As a team, we have good potential and we will do our best to protect our second position and close the gap with the leader in the championship.
The weekend kicks off on Friday 22nd with Free Practice 1 and 2, Free practice 3 and Qualifying on Saturday 23rd and the 6 hour race will start on Sunday 24th at 13:00 (local time).
