Wolf Henzler had a very strong weekend with Proton Competition at Imola in the second round of the 2016 European Le Mans Series.
The Porsche factory driver took a storming pole position on Saturday. On race day, he was among the fastest in GTE class and clinched a convincing victory against strong competitors.
The German ace shared the class winning #77 Porsche 911 RSR with Robert Renauer and Mike Hedlund. They ended the four-hour event ahead of two Ferrari 458 Italias from JMW Motorsport and AT Racing.
Wolf Henzler gave full credits to Proton Competition and their great team effort throughout the weekend at Imola.
At the beginning, I had some difficulties in finding my rhythm because of the yellow flag periods. But then, everything went smoothly. Robert drove a great double stint and with this laid the foundation for victory.
I am especially happy for the team, which worked very hard and prepared our car perfectly. It was a lot of fun today.
