Wolf Henzler gives Proton Competition Porsche GTE pole at Imola

Proton Competition and Porsche have taken the GTE pole position for Sunday's European Le Mans Series round two at Imola.

At the wheel of the #77 Porsche 911 RSR, Wolf Henzler set the fastest time in the ten-minute qualifying session with 1:41.269.

Wolf Henzler:

The team did a fantastic job and the car was perfect. Compard to Silverstone, we are really strong here at Imola. We have strong competitors in class with Ferrari and Aston Martin.

Ferrari factory driver Andrea Bertolini was second fastest with the #66 Ferrari 458 Italia from JMW Motorsport.

Klaus Bachler completed the top-three in GTE qualifying with the #88 Porsche 911 RSR from Proton Competition.

FIA WEC GTE-Pro leader Davide Rigon was fourth fastest with the AT Racing #56 Ferrari. The AF Corse Ferraris qualified in positions five with the #55 Ferrari and sixth with the #51 Ferrari. The Beechdean AMR #99 Aston Martin Vantage GTE was seventh fastest.

The Formula Racing #60 Ferrari didn't take part in the qualifying session following a big crash earlier in the second practice session with Christina Nielsen behind the wheel. The car will not take part in tomorrow's four-hour event.
