Proton Competition eager to perform well at Imola with Porsche
Proton Competion had a frustrating and unlucky weekend in the opening round of the European Le Mans Series at Silverstone. The German squad competed with a pair of Porsche 911 RSRs but wasn't able to fight for the top spots in GTE class.
The team will be heading to Imola this weekend with two cars. The famous Italian circuit will be playing host to the second round of this year's ELMS.
In 2015 Proton Competition took a strong second place in GTE at Imola with Richard Lietz, Marco Mapelli and Christian Ried after titanic battle with two Ferraris. For this weekend's race, they will be targeting another strong performance and big points in Italy with their two Porsches.
The #77 Porsche 911 RSR will be driven by Michael Hedlund, Robert Renauer and Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler.
The sister #88 Porsche 911 RSR will be shared by Gianluca Roda, team owner Christian Ried and fast Porsche specialist Klaus Bachler.
The two Porsche entries will be battling with cars from Ferrari and Aston Martin teams for GTE class supremacy in the last event before the big 24 Hours of Le Mans.
