Ferrari chases a second straight GTE-Pro victory at Spa

Ferrari had a perfect opening round of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship at Silverstone. The race cars from Maranello have clinched the victories in the two GT classes in the 6-hour event.

For the second round of the season at Spa-Francorchamps, the Italian brand will enter as usual two cars in the upper GTE-Pro class and will be challenged by strong rivals from Aston Martin, Ford and Porsche.

A Silverstone GTE-Pro was dominated by Davide Rigon and Sam Bird with the #71 Ferrari 488 GTE from team AF Corse. They started from pole position and never been challenged for the class lead all race long. Rigon and Bird will be eager to score a second straight GTE-Pro victory in the Belgian Ardennes and extend their points lead.

Their team-mates Gianmaria Bruni and James Calado ended the Silverstone event in a strong second place with the sister #51 Ferrari 488  GTE. The two drivers had a serve a long three-minute Stop & Go penalty (for changing the car's engine on Saturday) and they were able to bounce back and improve. At Spa-Francorchamps, Bruni and Calado will be among the big favourites for class victory.
