Scuderia Corsa gives Ferrari first GTLM pole of the year at Laguna Seca

Ferrari has clinched its first GT Le Mans (GTLM) pole position of the year at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as the Scuderia Corsa run #68 Ferrari 488 GTE set the fastest time in qualifying.

Daniel Serra from Brazil was the quickest in the ultra competitive GTLM class. The Brazilian driver set a best time of 1:22.867. Daniel Serra will be sharing the Scuderia Corsa Ferrari with Alessandro Pier Guidi in the Sunday two-hour event.

Daniel Serra:

It was a really quick lap, the car was getting better and better each lap. It’s a good race to be on pole and push, and its good to be on pole position. its a long race and the completion is quite high. It will be a difficult race going on tomorrow.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing performed well again. Ryan Brisco and Richard Wesbrook were second fastest with the #67 Ford GT right ahead of the their team-mates Dirk Mueller and Joey Hand, third with the sister #66 Ford GT.

GTLM points leaders Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner will start from position four on the grid with the #4 Corvette C7.R. The top-five in class was completed by the Risi Competzione #62 Ferrari 488 GTE of Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander.

The Corvette Racing #3 Corvette C7.R was sixth. The BMW Team RLL #25 BMW M6 GTLM was seventh. The Porsche North America #912 Porsche 911 RSR was eighth. The Porsche North America #911 Porsche 911 RSR was ninth. The BMW Team RLL #100 BMW M6 GTLM was tenth.

Overall pole position went to Mazda Motorsports, the Japanese brand racing at home locked up the front all with their two Mazda Prototypes.
