JMW Motorsport excluded, Beechdean AMR wins ELMS opener

JMW Motorsport has been excluded from the European Le Mans Series opener at Silverstone for technical infirengement.

The British team has won the LM GTE class in the four-hour race with drivers Rory Butcher, Andrea Bertolini and Rob Smith.

In post race scrutineering the no66 Ferrari was found to be in breach of article 2.2.1a of the ELMS LMGTE Am Technical Regulations, which means it didn’t conform to the homologation papers.  The front splitter was found to be incorrect and the JMW Motorsport Ferrari was excluded from the results.

Following JMW Motorsport's exclusion, the LM GTE results of the Silverstone race have changed. Class victory went to Beechdean AMR with the #99 Aston Martin Vantage driven by Andrew Howard, Alex McDowell and Darren Turner.

AT Racing #56 Ferrari 458 Italia is second with drivers Alessandro Pier Guidi, Alexander Talkanitsa Sr and Alexander Talkanitsa Jr. The class podium is completed by the #96 Aston Martin Vantage GTE in the hands of Roald Goethe, Stuart Hall and Richie Stanaway.
