Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner the fastest in IMSA Long Beach FP1


Corvette Racing drivers Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner were the fastest in the opening IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice session at Long Beach.

The two drivers of the factory #4 Corvette C7.R set a 1:18.533, the quickest time in the competitive GT Le Mans (GTLM) class.

BMW Team RLL's John Edwards and Lucas Luhr were second fastest with the #100 BMW M6 GTLM. The top-three in GTLM was completed by Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen with the #3 Corvette C7.R from Corvette Racing.

2015 GTLM champion Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy were fourth fastest with the #911 Porsche 911 RSR (Porsche North America). Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook were fifth with the #67 Ford GT (Ford Chip Ganassi Racing). Earl Bamber and Frederic Makowiecki were sixth with the #912 Porsche 911 RSR (Porsche North America).

Best Ferrari drivers were Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander in seventh place with the #62 Ferrari 488 GTE (Risi Competizione). Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner were eighth with the #25 BMW M6 GTLM (BMW Team RLL). Joey Hand and Dirk Muller were ninth with the #66 Ford GT (Ford Chip Ganassi Racing). Daniel Serra and Alessandro Balzan were tenth with the #68 Ferrari 488 GTE (Scuderia Corsa).
