Ferrari fastest again in the second FIA WEC practice at Silverstone


As was the case in the opening FIA World Endurance Championship practice session at Silverstone, Ferrari was the fastest again in GTE-Pro in the second session. The two factory supported AF Corse run Ferrari 488 GTE cars topped the class time sheets.

Gianmaria Bruni and James Calado set the quickest time in the 90-minute session with their #51 Ferrari 488 GTE with 2:00.107. Their team-mates Davide Rigon and Sam Bird were right behind with the sister #71 Ferrari 488 GTE.

Porsche was third fastest with drivers Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen sharing the semi-works #77 Porsche 911 RSR from Dempsey Proton Racing. Aston Martin Racing improved and was third quickest with the #97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

The two cars from Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK were fifth and sixth fastest in GTE-Pro with the #66 Ford GT leading the sister #67 machine. The second Aston Martin Racing (#95 Vantage GTE) entry was seventh.


In GTE-Am it was Porsche's turn in the second session. The #86 Porsche 911 RSR from Gulf Racing was the quickest in class and fourth overall among the GTs. The car was driven by Mike Wainwright ,Adam Carroll and Ben Barker, they set a best time of 2:02.081.

The #98 Aston Martin Vantage GTE from Aston Martin Racing was second fastest. The top-three in GTE-Am was completed by the #50 Corvette C7.R from Larbre Competition.

FIA WEC teams and drivers will be back on track on Satuday for a third practice session followed by the qualifying one.
