JMW Motorsport has won the GTE class in a thrilling European Le Mans Series opener at Silverstone. The winning #66 Ferrari 458 Italia was driven by Rory Butcher, Andrea Bertolini and Rob Smith.
The four-hour race was highlighted by great battles for GTE supremacy between Aston Martin Racing and JMW Motorsport. With one hour to go, the British privateer Ferrari team took the class lead and crossed the finish line victorious covering a total of 110 laps.
Second place in class went to the Beechdean AMR #99 Aston Martin Vantage with Andrew Howard, Alex McDowell and Darren Turner. The GTE podium was completed by the #96 Aston Martin Vantage GTE in the hands of Roald Goethe, Stuart Hall and Richie Stanaway.
The AT Racing #56 Ferrari 458 Italia was fourth. The AF Corse #55 Ferrari 458 Italia was fifth. The Formula Racing #60 Ferrari 458 Italia was sixth. The Proton Competition #88 Porsche 911 RSR was seventh. The AF Corse #51 Ferrari 458 Italia was eighth. The Proton Competition #77 Porsche 911 RSR was ninth.
The next race in the European Le Mans Series will be held in Imola, May 15th.
