Porsche factory driver Earl Bamber had a very strong qualifying session in the IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Championship at Long Beach.
The 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours overall winner narrowly missed pole position behind the wheel of the Porsche North America run #912 Porsche 911 RSR in the ultra competitive GTLM class.
Earl Bamber was delighted with his performances in qualifying and is targeting the victory in the Saturday 100-minute sprint race along with team-mate Frederic Makowiecki.
I’ve no idea where I lost those fractions of seconds. Possibly in the hairpin, but quite honestly you can lose three-thousandths almost anywhere on this circuit.
Today’s effort from the whole team was tremendous. Long Beach was not our strongest track in recent years.
The fact that we’ve done so well in qualifying here now has given us a lot of confidence. We just have to repeat this performance in the race tomorrow then anything is possible.
