Davide Rigon the GTE-Pro points leader gave his thoughts about the 6 Hours of Silverstone, a perfect weekend for him and for Ferrari.
Fantastic weekend at the 6 Hours of Silverstone, we got our first victory in the first race of the FIA WEC Championship. A fantastic victory together with Sam Bird and AF Corse team in the Ferrari 488 GTE, first victory ever for this car.
We did good since the start, my first stint was perfect even if the track temperature was too cold and we were racing with soft tires. I had a good gap from the Porsche behind us, they were pretty fast all the weekend. Then Sam get on track and he did a really good job too, not so easy to handle the traffic on track, the LMP1 and LMP2 categories were always pretty aggressive, so we had high possibilities to hit some of them, but this is part of the game.
The team was perfect, all the pit stop were perfect too and we won thanks to all the engineers and all the guys who have worked hard all the weekend. I had a good feeling with Sam, I’m very happy to have him on the team. Now we have already to think about the next race, continuing on this way.
