Rigon and Bird give Ferrari first pole of the year at Silverstone


Ferrari was again the strongest brand in the FIA World Endurance Championship qualifying session at Silverstone.

Factory drivers Davide Rigon and Sam Bird took a sensational pole position in GTE-Pro with their #71 Ferrari 488 GTE. The two AF Corse drivers set an average time of 2:12.440.

Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen were second fastest with their #77 Porsche 911 RSR from Dempsey Proton Racing.

The top-three in GTE-Pro was completed by the #66 Ford GT of Olivier Pla and Stefan Muecke. In the six-hour race the two will be joined by Billy Johnson.


In the GTE-Am class, the best average time went to the #88 Porsche 911 RSR from Abu Dhabi Proton Racing. Klaus Bachler and Khaled Al Qubaisi combined an average lap time of 2:15.102.

Second best time went to the KCMG #78 Porsche 911 RSR. Larbre Competition was third fastest with the #50 Corvette C7.R.
