No GTE effort for SMP Racing in the 2016 FIA WEC

SMP Racing will not have any GTE effort in the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship. The Russian squad clinched the 2015 GTE-Am title with a Ferrari 458 Italia GTE.

Sergey Zlobin the team manager of SMP Racing confirmed to Sportscar365's John Dagys that they will be focusing on the LMP2 class and running their BR01 prototypes. The team had plans to move to GTE-Pro with the brand new Ferrari 488 GTE.

SMP Racing competed last weekend at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with an AF Corse supported Ferrari 488 GTE driven by Gianmaria Bruni, James Calado, Andrea Bertolini and Viktor Shaytar.
