World class field in GTE-Pro at the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours

The 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours entry list is out and it's world class field in the two Grand Touring classes. The FIA World Endurance Championship full season competitors will be joined by strong teams from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the European Le Mans Series

The upper GTE-Pro is featuring five prestigious brands, all of them with heavy factory supported teams and stellar lineups. No less than fourteen cars will compete for the class honors in the French endurance classic.

Defending champions from Corvette Racing will have two cars at Le Mans. The Pratt & Miller run effort will enter two upgraded Corvette C7.Rs, the car recently won the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Ford is back to Le Mans with four full factory cars. Chip Ganassi Racing and Multimatic Racing will take charge of entering four brand new Ford GTs. The two FIA WEC regular entries will be joined by the two cars competing in the IMSA series.

Porsche will be competing with three factory supported cars. FIA WEC full season competitors from Dempsey Proton Racing will be joined by two works cars from Porsche Team Manthey.

Ferrari will be represented by three new 488 GTEs. Two cars for multiple FIA WEC champions and Le Mans winners from AF Corse. The third car is from the returning Risi Competizione, one of the strongest teams in the IMSA series.

Aston Martin Racing will be competing at Le Mans with two cars in GTE-Pro. The British squad will field the 2016 spec Vantage GTE. In 2015, AMR had three cars in GTE-Pro at Le Mans.

The GTE-Am division is very well represented with fourteen cars too. Ferrari will have five 458 Italia cars from AF Corse, Clearwater Racing, Formula Racing and Scuderia Corsa.

Porsche will have four 911 RSRs from Gulf Racing UK, KCMG, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing and Proton Competition. Aston Martin will be represented by three Vantage GTEs from Aston Martin Racing and TDS Racing.

Larbre Competition with a C7.R and Team AAI with a C6.R will represent the Corvette brand.
