The ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) has unveiled today the provisional entry list for the 2016 European Le Mans Series. The GTE class is very well represented with nine entries coming from three brands.
Ferrari is once more the dominant brand in the ELMS. No less than five Ferrari 458 Italia cars will enter the 2016 competition. The reigning champions from Formula Racing are back to defend their 2015 crown. Ferrari specialists from AF Corse will field a pair of Ferraris. AT Racing will have a single 458. The fifth Ferrari is coming from British squad JMW Motorsport, one of the strongest teams in European Le Mans Series.
Porsche will be represented by two cars coming from Proton Competition. The German team had a season of ups and downs in the 2015 ELMS and they will be aiming high this year with a pair of Porsche 911 RSRs.
There will be two Aston Martin Vantage GTEs in the ELMS this year. Following a successful try in last year's finale at Estoril with Beechdean AMR, Aston Martin Racing will compete in all six rounds of the 2016 season. The second car is coming from TDS Racing, the French squad won the 2015 GTC class in ELMS.
The season opener for the 2016 European Le Mans Series is set for April 16th at Silverstone, a four-hour event supporting the FIA World Endurance Championship.
