Oliver Gavin talks about the 2016 Corvette C7.R and IMSA GT Le Mans

Oliver Gavin is without a shadow of doubt one of the strongest GT drivers around. The British ace will compete this year again with Corvette Racing driving a new spec Corvette C7.R in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The factory Corvette driver described the difference between the 2016 C7.R and last year's model.

The 2016 Corvette C7.R is kind different compared to last year's car. The chassis is new and there were changes made including the safety cell and roll cage to meet the regulations.

The main changes in the car are really aerodynamic. The new C7.R has a bigger front splitter, a bigger diffuser on the rear and of course a wider and further back mounted rear wing.

All these adds up to more performance and it's a fun car to drive. We have more grip, more aerodynamic downforce in high speed corners and the level just moved up a little bit.

Oliver Gavin gave his thoughts about the new GTE / GTLM cars and the level of competition in IMSA's GT Le Mans.

I think the cars [2016 spec GTEs] look fantastic. Every car on the grid in our [GTLM] class looks spectacular. We have great manufacturers and great competition this year.

We have Ford coming into the series. I am sure we will have great battles throughout the season. So yes it's going to be an exciting year in 2016.
