Ford Chip Ganassi Racing 2016 FIA WEC drivers announced

Ford has announced the names of their drivers in the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship. The American brand will have two strong line-ups for their GTE-Pro assault.

The announcement from Ford Performance Chip Ganassi Racing came today in the United Kingdom and there were no big surprises. As expected, Andy Priaulx, Stefan Mucke, Olivier Pla have joined the "Bleu Oval" for the FIA WEC effort, the fourth driver is Marino Franchitti.

Andy Priaulx who recently left BMW Motorsport has a massive experience in GT racing in Europe and North America. The British ace won three straight FIA WTCC titles (2006,2007 and 2008).

Stefan Muecke is long-time Aston Martin Racing driver and is among the fastest GT drivers worldwide. The German competed with the Vantage GTE and V12 Vantage GT3 in recent years.

Olivier Pla from France is another fast driver. He took part in the 2015 Nissan full factory effort in LMP1 and is very experienced in sportscar racing.

The fourth Ford driver in FIA WEC is Marino Franchitti. The Scot is very experienced in sportscar racing and won multiple events and titles with both prototypes and GTs.

Ford Performance Chip Ganassi Racing will be challenged this year by Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche and the premier GT class in FIA WEC.
