World class field in GT Le Mans in Roar Before the Rolex 24


IMSA has released the entry list of the upcoming Roar Before the Rolex 24, the final big test before the prestigious 24-hour event and round 1 of the 2016 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

No less than 54 cars will enter the three-day event mixing Prototypes and Grand Tourings. The GT Le Mans class is featuring 11 cars representing BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford and Porsche.

BMW will field two brand new BMW M6 GTLM. Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner will drive the #25 BMW and will have two BMW DTM stars as team-mates, Augusto Farfus and Bruno Spengler. The sister #100 M6 GTLM car will be driven by Lucas Luhr, John Edwards, Kuno Wittmer and IndyCar star Graham Rahal.


Corvette Racing will enter their two upgrated Corvette C7.Rs. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen will be joined by Audi DTM star Mike Rockenfeller behind the wheel of the #3 Corvette. Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner will share the #4 C7.R with Audi LMP1 ace Marcel Fassler.

Ferrari will be represented by two teams running the new 488 GTE, SMP Racing and Scuderia Corsa. Ferrari factory drivers Andrea Bertolini, Giammaria Bruni and James Calado will share the #72 AF Corse run 488 GTE with Russian driver Viktor Shaitar. The Scuderia Corsa #68 Ferrari will be driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, Alexandre Premat and Daniel Serra. Risi Competizione will not take part in the event as they didn't receive their car yet.


Ford Performance Chip Ganassi Racing will be at Daytona with two brand new Ford GTs. Joey Hand and Dirk Muller will share the #66 car with IndyCar star Sébastien Bourdais. Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook will be behind the wheel of the #67 Ford along with former Aston Martin Racing ace Stefan Mücke.

The 2015 IMSA champion from Porsche North America will have two upgrated Porsche 911 RSRs.  Patrick Pilet, Nick Tandy and Kevin Estre will be driving the #911 Porsche. Earl Bamber, Frederic Makowiecki and Michael Christensen will be sharing the #912 machine.
