Porsche North America 2016 IMSA drivers announced

Porsche will be back to the North American based IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year with two factory Porsche 911 RSR cars.

The effort will be once again entered under Porsche North America banner and will feature some strong drivers.

The first of the two Porsches will feature the 2015 GT Le Mans champion Patrick Pilet and the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours overall winner Nick Tandy. The two drivers won together the 2015 Petit Le Mans beating a full field of Prototypes. For the long races, they will be joined by new comer to Porsche, Kevin Estre.

The second 919 RSR will be in the hands of Frederic Makowieck and another Le Mans overall winner Earl Bamber. The third driver for the endurance event is Michael Christensen.

Porsche will try to defend all the three championship titles. In 2015, the German squad clinched the drivers', teams' and manufacturers' crowns.
