Long and Heinemeier Hansson complete Abu Dhabi Proton Racing line-up for 2016 FIA WEC

Abu Dhabi Proton Racing is set to return to the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2016. The team will once again compete in the highly competitive GTE-Am class.

Khaled Al Qubaisi who recently said that he will target the class title in 2016 will be joined by two very strong drivers.

Long-time Porsche factory driver Patrick Long and David Heinemeier Hansson will share a Porsche 911 RSR with Khaled Al Qubaisi as confirmed by Sportscar365.

Patrick Long competed this year in FIA WEC with  the sister team, Dempsey Proton Racing. He scored the GTE-Am class victory at the 6 Hours of Fuji and clinched a podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

David Heinemeier Hansson the 2014 GTE-Am champion with Aston Martin Racing will return to the class debuting with Porsche. He had a season of ups and downs in the LMP2 class. He raced with ESM Racing driving a Ligier HPD (Honda).

The Abu Dhabi Proton Racing is the second confirmed effort from Proton Competition. The German squad will compete in the upper GTE-Pro class a the factory supported Porsche team under Dempsey Proton Racing banner with a 911 RSR for Richard Lietz and Micheal Christensen.
