Risi Competizione 2015 IMSA season review

Risi Competizione was the only full season competitor representing Ferrari in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship this year. The Guisepe Risi managed squad entered a single Ferrari 458 Italia shared by factory driver Giancarlo Fisichella and team's regualr Pierre Kaffer. The two drivers performed very well in the IMSA series and ended the season in fourth place in GTLM points standing.

Risi Competizione 2015 season started with the traditional Rolex 24 at Daytona. Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer were joined in the Florida classic by two Ferrari works drivers, Olivier Beretta and Davide Rigon. It was hard 24-hour event for the Houston based team, they ended the race in ninth place in GTLM class.

The next round was another big classic, the 12 Hours of Sebring. Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer were joined by long time Ferrari factory driver Andrea Bertolini. The 458 Italia was very strong and challenged for class win. In the end Risi Competizione took a very strong second in GTLM behind the winning Corvette.

In Long Beach, Risi Competizione took another strong second place in GTLM. Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kafferwere finished the street course race behind the victorious BMW Z4 GTE.

In the next three rounds the Ferrari team missed the podium despite showing some strong performances. Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer were fourth at Laguna Seca, fifth at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and sixth at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

At Road America, Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer were back on the podium with a fine third place. They were third again in the all GT race in Virginia International Raceway.

In their home race in Texas, Risi Competizione ended the Lone Star Le Mans event in a strong second place at the Circuit of the Americas. Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer ended behind the GTLM winning BMW Z4 GTE.

The two drivers concluded the 2015 IMSA season at Road Atlanta, home of the world famous Petit Le Mans. The ten-hour event was shortened for the very bad weather and track conditions. Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer joined by Ferrari factory driver Toni Vilander, ended the race in fifth place in GTLM class.

For the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Risi Competizione is planning a GTLM effort with the brand new Ferrari 488 GTE.
