Porsche leaving the FIA WEC GTE-Pro ?

German website Motorsport-Total reported that Porsche will leave the FIA World Endurance Championship GTE class as a factory team at the end of the 2015 season.

Porsche Team Manthey has been competing in the GTE-Pro class since 2013 scoring many victories in FIA WEC with the Porsche 911 RSR. The German squad is leading the drivers' standing with one round left and is battling for the manufacturers title with Ferrari.

According to Motorsport-Total the decision is linked to the diesel scandal which is hitting the whole Volkswagen Group and its brands. It's expected to see the Porsche 911 RSR continuing in the hands of customer teams, two cars from Proton Competition are competing this year in GTE-Am

No official announcement yet, but if true this will be a very sad news for the GTE field in FIA WEC. Next year Ford will join the field with two brand new Ford GTs.
