Risi Competizione will not take part in next week's IMSA test days at Daytona International Speedway. The Texas based Ferrari team is fully focused on bringing the new 488 GTE to America replacing their successful 458 GTE.
The decision to skip the Daytona tests was made to allow some team members to join Michelotto in testing the new car at Vallelunga, Italy. Nothing official yet but it is expected to see Risi Competizione back to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year in the demanding GT Le Mans (GTLM) class.
Risi Competizione's team manager Dave Sims spoke with RACER.com's Marshall Pruett about team's plans.
"We sent three crew guys over to start the test, which begins today. It was the chief mechanic and two engineers who went to attend the Vallelunga test, and Giuseppe Risi, is already in Italy meeting with Ferrari, so hopefully we'll have details when they return regarding the program."
"We'll soon learn about the release of the car, its production schedule and where they're at on that. Daytona's coming up pretty quick and we'll know more next week."
