GTE / GTLM - Confirmed 2016 entries in FIA WEC, IMSA and ELMS so far


Manufacturers, teams and drivers confirmed so far for the 2016 season in FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and European Le Mans Series.

Only official annoucements will be included here.

 

AF Corse (GTE-Pro)

The factory supported Italian team will enter the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship with a pair of brand new Ferrari 488 GTE cars.

 Gianmaria Bruni will share the #51 car with James Calado. The #71 488 will be driven by Davide Rigon and new comer Sam Bird.

Aston Martin Racing (GTE-Pro)

The official Aston Martin Racing will compete in the 2016 FIA WEC. The number of the cars in the upper GTE-Pro class is not confirmed yet but it is expected to see the British brand fielding two entries. Darren Turner is the only annouced driver so far.

 Ford Performance Chip Ganassi Racing (GTE-Pro)

Ford will compete in the GTE-Pro class with two cars in FIA World Endurance Championship. The drivers for the FIA WEC effort will are Stefan Muecke, Andy Priaulx, Olivier Pla and Marino Franchitti.

Dempsey Proton Racing (GTE-Pro)

The German-American squad will move to GTE-Pro with a single Porsche 911 RSR. The car will be shared by 2015 class champion Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen.

Aston Martin Racing (GTE-Am)

Aston Martin Racing will have at least one car in GTE-Am. Paul Dalla Lana, Mathias Lauda and Pedro Lamy will share an Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

Abu Dhabi Proton Racing (GTE-Am)

The Proton Competition managed effort will field a Porsche 911 RSR for Khaled Al Qubaisi, Patrick Long and David Heinemeier Hansson

BMW Team RLL

BMW will enter the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship with two brand new BMW M6 GTLM.

The BMW Team RLL will keep their 2015 drivers. Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner will share one BMW. The sister car will be driven by John Edwards  and Lucas Luhr. Augusto Farfus, Bruno Spengler, Graham Rahal and Kuno Witmer will join the team at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Corvette Racing

The American squad has confirmed plans and drivers for the 2016 season. Two Corvette C7.Rs will compete in the GTLM class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. Corvette Racing will also try to defend the 2015 GTE-Pro title at Le Mans 24 Hours.

Corvette Racing confirmed all the 2015 drivers for next year competition, Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen, Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner. At Sebring and Daytona, Audi Sport factory drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Marcel Fassler will join the Corvette squad. Brothers Ricky and Jordan Taylor will driver the works C7.Rs at Le Mans.

Ford Performance Chip Ganassi Racing

Ford is back as a factory team and will compete with two Ford GT cars in IMSA. The drivers are Ryan Brisco, Joey Hand, Richard Westbrook and Dirk Mueller.


Porsche North America

The German brand won everything possible in the IMSA series in 2015. Porsche North America will be back in GTLM with two updated 911 RSR cars.

2015 GTLM champion Patrick Pilet will be joined by Nick Tandy. The second car will be driven by Earl Bamber and Frederic Makowiecki.

Risi Competizione

The American Ferrari team will enter a single brand new Ferrari 488 in IMSA GTLM.

Risi's 2016 drivers in the IMSA series are Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander.

Scuderia Corsa

A new entry in the GT Le Mans class, Scuderia Corsa will field a brand new Ferrari 488 GTE with drivers Alessandro Pier Guidi, Alexandre Premat and Daniel Serra. The team will compete in North American Endurance Cup events only.


Beechdean AMR

The 2015 British GT Champions confirmed their plans for European Le Mans Series effort in 2016. One Aston Martin Vantage GTE will compete in the GTE class. The drivers will be announced later.

Formula Racing

The 2015 ELMS GTE champions will return to defend their title.

The Danish team will be back with their Ferrari 458 Italia and drivers Christina Nielsen, Mikkel Mac and Johnny Laursen.

TDS Racing

The French team won the 2015 GTC class in the ELMS and is set to move up to GTE in 2016 with one car.

The brand and driver lineup will be annouced very soon.
