Ferrari fastest again in Bahrain second practice session


As was the case in the opening FIA WEC practice session, Ferrari dominated the GTE field in the second session, a night one at Sakhir International Circuit.

The factory supported AF Corse squad scored another 1-2 in GTE-Pro class. Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander were again the quickest in the field. The two factory Ferrari drivers shared the #51 Ferrari 458 GTE and set the fastest time in class with 1:59.402.

The sister #71 Ferrari 458 GTE were second with drivers Davide Rigon and James Calado. Porsche Team Manthey was again third with the #92 Porsche 911 RSR of Patrick Pilet and Frederic Makowiecki.

The top-five in GTE-Pro was completed by two Aston Martin Vantage GTEs. The returning #95 Aston Martin from Young Driver AMR was fourth ahead of the #99 entry.

SMP Racing was the fastest in GTE-Am with the #72 Ferrari 458 GTE driven by Victor Shaytar, Andrea Bertolini and Aleksey Basov. The Dempsey Protn Racing #77 Porsche 911 RSR was second. Third place in GTE-Am class went to the Larbre Competition #50 Corvette C7.R.

FIA WEC action will resume in Bahrain tomorrow with the third practice session and qualifying.
